Why does the VP-8 I/O Change When The Preset Changes?
In the upper left corner of the System page of the VP-8 GUI is an area called "Special Options" and the top item in that list is an option called "Input/Output Settings Change with Preset Takes". If that option is checked, then when presets are taken they will cause the I/O settings saved with that particular preset to change. If the option is unchecked, the I/O settings in the preset are ignored when recalled.
