We understand that at first, moving your license server can seem like a daunting process fraught with pitfalls and snares, but we assure you, it is really very simple. When moving License Server to a new PC, there is a very simple process you can follow that will make it smooth and simple, and most importantly, avoid any down time for your critical station software and PC drivers.

Wheatnet PC drivers will operate, even if License Server is turned off, for a period of time - up to several days. This means that you don't have to worry about taking your station off the air while doing this, or having to get it done unreasonably quick.
The even better news is that the process itself is really simple.
1 - Set up your new PC outside of the current Wheatnet
a. You're going to want to use the same IP address as your current License Server. This makes the transition very easy for your licensed devices.
b. Do this without connecting the NIC of the PC to the Wheatnet to avoid any conflicts.
2 - Install the software and apply the licensing
a. Make sure you have the same version of software by checking your current software and ask Tech support for help if you can't find it
b. When requesting new licensing, send us a copy of the Installed Licenses tab and License Server Config tab from your current LS Viewer software along with the seed for the new so we can match your new license to the licensing you already have. (Make sure to expand the tree view to show us all the licenses you have and each product and count for each license.)
c. Screenshot your "Allocated Leases" and save them so you can confirm all devices are reconnected when you're done.
3 - When you're ready, turn off the old, and plug in the new.
a. As simple as it sounds. Shut down the old server, plug in the new one and let the devices reconnect
b. You may have to go and clear any pop-ups from end user machines showing the disconnection.
4 - Check for connections.
a. Your Allocated Leases tab should now be populated with all the devices that are connecting to your server. Compare to your previously saved data.
