Backing Up A Console

Backing Up A Console

Notes
This document applies to all Wheatstone Consoles that use Compact Flash memory but do not have an external setup GUI. These include the Evolution Series, Generation Series, and LX-24.

This does not apply to consoles that have their own setup GUI, such as the LXE, GSX, L Series, IP Series, DMX, Arcus, Strata, Tekton, D3, D3T.
Warning
Please be advised that attempting to simply copy data from one drive to another replacement drive will not work unless the replacement drive has been made bootable prior to loading the data. This will require a utility that is available from Wheatstone Support.

The first thing you will need is an FTP client such as FileZilla.

Next launch the program and configure it to access your console.

1 - Click the Site Manager icon in the top left, then click New Site and add a friendly name.

2 - You’ll need to input the IP address of the data you want to access.

The username is: knockknock

The password is: whosthere

3 - Click connect

4 - Create a directory for your PC on the left hand side “Local Site” and navigate to it in that window.

5 - Highlight EVERYTHING on the right hand side “Remote Site”, Right-click and choose Download.

FileZilla will proceed to download everything you selected to the directory of your choice. When the download is completed, you will have successfully completed your backup of the entire surface data drive.

If you have multiple surfaces, it is recommended you backup each of them this same way.
