How to Transfer Processing Presets Between M4IP/M4IPUSB Blades
M4 presets are stored in the M4 Blade's memory. They can also be saved to the PC running the M4 GUI, but only if the user chooses to do that. If you want to move a preset you have created to a different M4 blade, the first step will be to save it to the PC. Refer to the
Library section of the
M4 manual starting on page 2-13; that will help you understand the process we are about to describe.
You need to connect the M4 GUI to the processor (and have it show the green Online indicator) to see what's in the processor's memory!
The left pane shows all of the presets saved to the processor's memory.
The right pane is what is on the PC. By default, there is a folder here called Favorites. This is located in C:\Users\username\Documents\Wheatstone\m4\presets\favorites.
Drag the presets you want to save to disk from the left pane (the processor memory) to the right pane (your disk). Once they are in your favorites folder, you can back that up to a network share or thumb drive as you wish.
Once you have saved the presets to disk, it's just a matter now of connecting to a new M4. The presets you have saved to disk will still be in the right pane under Favorites and you can drag them from the right pane (disk) to left pane (processor) into any open slot. Once stored into the processor's memory you can take the preset in the conventional manner.
Using this process, you can set up a group of presets that are your facility's standard and use them in all of your studios.
