What is License Server?

Table of Contents

License Server is a on premise management utility used for managing licenses across a facility. The use of this server replaces node-locked or USB licensing across multiple applications giving the user the ability to flexibly manipulate where software are licensed and how many licenses or channels of each can be used. Most useful in this is the ability to have a pool of AOIP channels available within a facility. From this pool, the user can modify how many AOIP channels any one driver is using at any time. It also allows for the immediate launch (without contacting support for seed licensing) of a new or replacement PC running the AOIP driver.

The License Server currently supports and replaces the previous “Node Locked” or individual PC licenses for ScreenBuilder, Remote Strata32, Remote D-3, LayersStream, LayersStream Channels, LayersStream Nielsen, and the Wheatnet AOIP Windows Driver.

The License Server consists of 2 modules: The License Server Config utility and the License Server Viewer utility. The Config utility is the portion of the server that is licensed, it installs the service to the Windows OS and allows control of the service from the gui. The viewer is an unlicensed tool that can be installed on as many PCs as the user likes. This utility is used to license the Server and will help the user view total, in use, and available license seats for various programs that are licensed through the server.
