- Disconnect the cables and move the LXE console blade from the rack and remove the lid. There are 12 screws that hold the lid in place; six on top and three on each side.
- Unplug the DC cable and battery backup from the Jetway assembly.
- Remove the mini-SATA drive from the CPU. It is held in place by one screw. Using that screw, install the drive on the replacement CPU.
- Remove the Jetway assembly from the mix engine. Do not remove the silver screws on the top corners; these hold the CPU to the heatsink, and we don’t want to disturb that. There is a bracket that holds the heatsink to the chassis, and we want to remove that so the heatsink and CPU come out as one piece. On older mix engines, two flathead screws went through the bottom of the chassis to hold the bracket in place. In newer mix engines, there are two threaded chassis inserts used with locking nuts.
- Install the replacement CPU assembly.
- Plug in the DC power cable and CMOS battery that you removed in step 2.
- Replace the cover, connect the cables, and apply ppower
The console’s settings are stored on the mini-SATA drive; as long as you move the drive from the old CPU to the new one, all console settings will be retained.
